About this workshop

This three-day, immersive workshop is designed for those looking to take the next step in their street photography journey. It is a course for photographers who are moving from building their confidence and skills towards finding direction in their work, editing and sequencing images to craft narratives and projects.

Breakdown/ Itinerary

FRIDAY:
Commencing in the evening of Friday Oct 4th, with a meet and greet and talk that will introduce the concept of effective reflective practice, this workshop will initially develop your knowledge of street photography’s visual history, increase your visual literacy by examining the components of ‘great’ photographs, and encourage you to consider your own work with a more critical eye.

SATURDAY:
On the Saturday, we will be taking to the streets of New York City to put into practice the skills covered during the previous session: Observation, Composition, Technical Proficiency, Patience and Timing, & Making Adjustments.

SUNDAY:
On Sunday, we then move towards questions of developing voice, style, originality and vision. Participants will come prepared with their images from Saturday afternoon’s shooting session loaded on their devices, which will then be edited down into a cohesive and sequenced series. We will look at practical ways to edit and sequence work, case-studies, visual storytelling through concept, theme, tropes and structure, as well as methods for producing and presenting finished work via self-publication.
